SafeTrx has partnerships with a range of maritime rescue organisations – from national institutions to non-profit charities – that support SafeTrx Active in certain countries. Please check the Search and Rescue (SAR) services in each country under the ‘Services Provided’ section on the SafeTrx Active Web App to see if there are SAR service partners available in your country.

An emergency alert may not send to the rescue services for the following reasons:

o If there are no SAR services listed for your home country or in the country where the alert was raised, then the alert will not be sent to SAR services. It will be sent to your emergency contacts if you’ve opted to do so.

o In some countries, SAR services will only handle alert activations at sea. In this scenario, when an alert has been activated on land or inland waters, SAR services will not be alerted. Your emergency contacts will receive the alert if you’ve opted to do so.

o The emergency alert will be sent immediately to SAR services if there is a GPS location received within the previous 5 minutes of activating the alert. Once it gets a GPS position, the alert is sent to SAR services. The SafeTrx server keeps checking for an updated GPS position every minute and sends the latest position to the rescue services. If SafeTrx Active fails to get a GPS position during an alert, the alert will not be sent to SAR services, but your emergency contacts will receive the alert if you’ve opted to do so.

o If you are outside of the LTE-M coverage area then your mSafety will not be able to get a signal and cannot send the alert. It will continue to track your location and attempt to send the alert every 60 seconds. As soon as it gets into a coverage area the alert will be sent and the recorded location data will be sent.
