Depending on the version of SafeTrx you have installed and the location you're calling from, an Emergency option or an Emergency and Assistance option will be displayed when you press the 'Call for Help' button.

When the Emergency or Assistance call options are pressed on the SafeTrx mobile app, the app will determine the boater’s current location using location services on the device and will call a pre-defined number accordingly.

How do I make an Emergency or Assistance calls from the app?

An emergency or assistance call can be made from the SafeTrx app. To initiate the call, you can either press the call icons on the home screen, menu or trip progress screen. This will present the distress call options. You will then need to press the red button labelled "Emergency" to initiate a call and send your location or press the green button labelled “Assistance” to initiate a call and send your location.

What happens when an Emergency or Assistance call is initiated?

Once an emergency or assistance call is initiated and the user has an internet data connection, the app will transmit a location update to the SafeTrx server every 5 minutes. This 'Alert & Track' mode applies if you had not activated tracking yourself by starting a Sail Plan or Track Only trip or if you have set the lower recording interval of 10 minute or 30 minute in Track Only mode.

Where an emergency or assistance call is activated when Sail Plan, Track Only ‘5 minute’ or ‘Continuous’ recording intervals are set, the app will continue to report regular position updates.
